whats your c2d best overclocks

Dual Prime Stable
Core 2 Duo e6300 @ 1.86GHZ to 3.32GHZ.
Bus speed is 460Mhz
Rated FSB is 1840Mhz
Voltage is supposed to be 1.375 but w/ vdroop it's around 1.33-1.35
Using Zalman CNPS9500LED Cooler
RAM is at 1:1 @ DDR2-920 4-4-3-8 w/ 2.2v

Liquid I like your setup. Your ram (GBHZ) is the only one I'd consider over Corsair XMS2. Now that the price has come up so drastically on it, I'd hav eto give the nod to Corsair. But still, great ram!

so let me ask this, what is the benifit from buying the E6600 when i could buy the 6300 and just overclock it to 3.something ghrz, the 6600s are only goin to 3.something ghrz as well, explain how i will benefit

why is the 6600 worth the 200something dollars more besides the fact its faster at stock and the 2mb dif in cache

is it worth it to spend 300ish for the 6600 when i could buy the 6300 and just overclock it to run just as fast..?

or can i reach much higher overclocks with the 6600 since its faster stock?

ive also been pondering about maybe just saving a few extra paychecks.. and buying the C2E x6800

Basically, with the E6300/6400 you want to run a DS3 or P5B htat can run skyhigh FSB to get your clockspeed way up there. Becuase of the low multi, you have to jack the FSB way up. If you are going with a more expensive board like a DQ6 or P5W DH then you can go with the E6600/6700 because these have the higher multiplier and you don't run the FSB up as high, but these boards seem to support the higher overall clocks.

Basically, do you want to have the best? E6300's are hitting 3.4-3.5Ghz Stable on good air cooling and with good ram and the right board. E6400's are hitting 3.5-3.6Ghz stable on good air and with good ram. With an E6600 people have been getting 3.6-3.9Ghz. The E6700 and X6800 have not had enough people playing with them to really show their potential, howegver the X6800 is the king, and would be best at OCing. The Multi on the E6300 is what is slowing it down. the allendales have less cache which means less heat and thus they can overclock like crazy. However, the E6600 is the only one that seems to be able to get into the upper 3Ghz with ease. However, considering that the E6300 is hitting about 100% overclock with instability issues, but easily doing ~70% OC stable, I can't see the point. It's just if your ego needs to have the E6600 or not.

The Asus P5W DH seems to be king of the E6600/6700/6800's, while the DS3 is king of the 6300/6400's.

ic, well thanks that makes sence, i was thinking about maybe savin a lil extra longer for the processer and getting the x6800 not sure, im goin to purchase the rest of the stuff in my sig and wait for the cpu last and see how impatient i am lol

e6300 @2.25 lol
fsb: 321.5mhz
ram: 321.5mhz (643, matching 1:1...tried starting at the 667 but hit ceiling much lower)
asus P5NSLI...i kno i kno, i was on a budget

not very high, thats because i hit a fricking ceiling with the boards max fsb speed...once i hit 330 it wouldnt boot right...got into windows once but then it just hung, so i backed it off and appear to be getting 2.25Ghz stable.

hey i saved $40 or so off the e6400 lol
overclocking wasnt my goal anywho, but now that ive had a taste i might upgrade my board and memory when i get money instead of my screen and graphics cards...im content with it now.

lol i must have broke a record with my e6300 overclock...not...but she does run great tho
