What's your take on this system?

Thanks for reading, could really use your advice.

I'm ordering my first-ever gaming computer. I probably will want to play FF14 and Skyrim, but I also need to video edit and use photoshop for work.

I want to spend around $1,000. Here is what I came up with for about $1,050.

Do you have any suggestions as to what to add/subtract?

It's overkill for gaming, you can save money in some areas and spend it better in others.

Drop the 3770 to a 3570K. It's an i5, but the 3570K is just about the best gaming chip out there. Go for 8GB of RAM too, Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 2x4GB would be ideal. I'd also get a better board too, maybe a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H.

Liquid cooling for the i7 is pointless as the 3770 cannot be overclocked, but the 3570K can, so if you want to overclock get the liquid cooler.

SSD looks OK but I'd get a Crucial M4 or a SanDisk Extreme or an OCZ Vertex 4.

If you have any money left, I'd maybe get a 7870 instead of a 7850. The 7850 is a pretty awesome card, but if you can a 7870 would be pretty cool. Changing the CPU, RAM and board is more important though.

Can you explain to me the differences between a 3570K and a 3770? I see a lot of conflicting research on the net, unless I am looking in the incorrect places.

Do you have a suggestion on where to purchase?

The difference between the 3570K and the 3770 is the threads. The 3570K has 4, the 3770 has 8. Note though that both are quad-cores. 8 threads are not needed for gaming at all, so you'd be wasting your money going with the i7.

If you are American or Canadian you can buy from Newegg.com or Newegg.ca. Not being an American or a Canadian myself, I cannot comment on what the shop is like, but most of our American and Canadian users buy from there and seem to like it. :)

NCIX / CanadaComputers are the probably the best bet from my experience.

Mostly from NCIX if in Canada.
