When I try to do a system backup and create a xp restore cd it fails.

I am trying to do a full system backup and create a windows xp restore cd. It fails and I get this report.

"Backup Status
Operation: Backup
Active backup destination: File
Media name: "Backup.bkf created 10/21/2008 at 4:50 PM"

Backup Status
The files for the recovery diskette could not be created. The operation was aborted.
The operation did not successfully complete."

Any idea what I can do to get my files backed up and create a restore disk? I really need the restore cd.

I am trying to back it up onto a 300gb usb hard drive. I can also use dvd's if that's better. I haven't tried because that's a lot of dvd's. My system died a while back and I just not got all my stuff back on it. I would really like to have a restore cd in case it happens again.

well i think your dc rom has damage if i'm not wrong... but if you want to sure what happen in your computer... that every time you make some backup in you it will fails... one i sure it to you it has a problem...
