Are you talking about the 8600 line? Because the 8800 line is already out. They have the 320 and 640MB versions of the 8800GTS and a 8800GTX with I believe 740 something MB of memory...don't remember the exact number. If they have an 8800GT coming out I'm not aware of it.

You want the 8600 GTS which is the top of line 8600. However recent tests on the reference cards show that it is not actually that good. I was originally planning to get it but I'm now getting the 8800GTS 320MB

Edit: I take back the not good part. Can nominaly beat the 7900GT

Is that the stock clock on the 8600GT, 745/1145? Because in that comparison chart they're running the 7900GT at stock clock.

It should be out on April 17th, 4 days. Of course, it is better than the 7900, I heard it was in comparison with the 7950 but, I think it still beats it. That's why they made the OC'ed 8600, so people would by the new stuff with better performance instead of the old stuff with comparable performance.

really the only added bonus is hardware level DX10 compatibility, its basically a budget card (as most of the 7600 and 7800 cards are) but with DirectX 10 support.

It's for people who can't stretch their budget to an 8800 but still want to play Crysis on medium-low settings on vista... It's not supposed to beat it's 7000 series counterpart.
