When should i upgrade my GPU??

i currently have a MSI ATI r4850. About what time do you think would be a good time for me to upgrade my GPU?
 
At the moment the 4850 is still a pretty decent ranking card only beaten by the gtx 260 core 216, Gtx 275, Gtx 280/285, Ati HD4870/4890, and dual gpu cards such as the Gtx 295, 4850x2 and 4870x2. I would venture to say at least a year if not longer....
 
i'd say when you can no longer run your fav. games at decent settings. i mean there is no point tryin to max out crysis if you dont like that game :D
 
I'm running a 4850 myself, and its currently the last thing on my list to upgrade, and even then, I'm thinking I'll just wind up CFing it as by the time I really need to, they'll probably be dirt cheap and my build will support it. (Eventually anyway :( )

As you probably know, 4850 is great but its not perfect. I hate those little graphic spikes you experience when you play the upper games which really gets on my nerves. I guess i should have invested in a more expensive card with my expectations out of a GPU

I was thinking of CFing right away but then i heard about compatibility issues with most CFing. heard most games do not support it... so i am just waiting i guess for the next big thing. I just dont have that much dedication in gaming in me to get a whole new card right this instant when i just bought 4850 couple months ago.
