When should I upgrade?

XP ended in 2014 and as of this year still .6 percent of all computers still run XP. So technically no but if you want to be secure and up to date then yes. What are your system specs? You may be able to upgrade to 11 for free providing you have decent specs.
I checked and my computer isn't able to upgrade to 11, so it looks like I will need to buy a new computer. Should I buy now or wait a little while, since Windows 10 will still be supported till 10/25? My main concern is not losing my passwords and bookmarks that are stored in my computer when I install a new computer. I use Edge as my browser. The computer I have now is a Dell and when it was brand new it would frequently shutdown. The cause was never determined, and it just went away on its own. I see in reviews, that even today, some people have this problem with their Dell computers. I still plan on staying with Dell because any brand could have problems with some of their computers.

You should have created your own thread instead of piggybacking off of someone else's. I have now moved your post to a new thread.

Totally up to you.

Are you signed into your edge browser so that all your bookmarks, website logins and passwords are synced? If so, then all you do is sign in to edge on your new pc and everything will sync over.

Hardware issue somewhere or overheating possibly.

I was under the mistaken belief ,that if there was already a thread open on a topic ,that one shouldn't start a new thread on the same topic .

But if the original poster or anyone that replied subscribed to that thread, they would get notified of any replies. So it's easier for everyone involved that you start your own thread.

What is your service tag for the Dell, just out of curiosity?

While Windows 10 will be end of life in 2025, there will be an extended service update (ESU) available to purchase for max 3 years, extended the life of Windows 10. You will continue to get security updates, but no new features.

Also to add to JohnB's post, I have seen in other technical forums that some posts into another's thread with a similar problem, it gets confusing on who we are helping. :) A new thread is always the best solution, and you and link the URL to the other thread if needed.
