When the first halo game came out

A friend of mine has a halo game for the atari 2600 so it made me wonder when didi halo first came out so i went online and the internet said the first game of halo came out on the xbox in 2001 which i knew it was full of crap because my friend has the game halo 2600 for the atari 2600 and on the case it has the same halo logo as todays halo games. So if any of you guys knows when the first true halo came out can you please let me know

Looks like it was a port over made by Eddy Fries back in 2010. Dunno why someone would create a port for an Atari 2600 in 2010, but it looks like they did.
