When to buy?

Hi everyone.

I am in the market for a new gaming pc as my Dell Dimension 8200 (1.8 gig) with 768 ram and ATI 9700 card can no longer keep up with new games.

I plan on a high end intel pc in the $4000 range and have been looking at rigs on Velocity Micro since they appear to be easier to upgrade down the road than Dell or other OEM type set ups. I hear rumblings that vista and DX10 is around the corner but do not want to get into the rut of waiting for each new innovation so that I turn into the fisherman trying to row out to the horizon.

So, should I go ahead and buy now, wait until late fall or what? Recommendations?

First, build your own. You can save cash and its way more fun.

$4000 is a lot, you could buy a high end Core 2 Duo gaming PC with $2000.

Waiting really depends on what kind of person you are, if I had that much cash to spend. It would burn a hole in my pocket so fast. If you think you can wait, then do it.

What you could do is buy a sick sytem now for $2000 then when DX10 comes out, you can always buy the newest stuff out with that left over money. You will still have a high end PC.
