When will the Radeon HD 6000 series be out?

I want to build a budget quad-core system, but it will take me a while to save up. I was just curious if it would be best to wait for the 6 series.

it might be a good idea. if they don't bring anything really new and great to the table, hopefully the prices on the 5xxx series will drop, saving you some money ;)

Kinda what I was hoping. And I was starting to think I was the only Minnesotan on this forum :P

I heard that they are being released this year, in November.

I hard that too. I also heard that they are starting with the lower end cards first and are working their way to the higher end ones so it might not be November that you could get a really good card for gaming. Still worth the wait IMO. It is rumored that there is a whole now architecture.

Oh you can add one more to your Minnesota list. :D I just go to school in Fargo.

we should start a club.

You could always build your rig and just use on board graphics to wait and see what happens with the new gpu series. I will say the 5800s are nice. I love my 5870. Plays everything on high to ultra settings. Just make sure you get a case that can house a big card cause they only get bigger as they get better.

You could build your rig, and have a motherboard with integrated video. mine has a radeon 4250 build it. won't do much for games but it will be better than an intel video chip.

What about a Cheap Nvidia card? Like two 9500GT's in SLI temporarily?

They are $59.99 each, $7.56 shipping.

Waste...i wouldnt get two cheap cards. Also, the 6000 series is not really going to do much other than lower power consumption and perhaps help overclockability, not going to be anything revolutionary as far as i've seen, especially since its going to be on the same process as the current 5000 series cards.

If i was going to go with a cheap single card, the GTS 250 is a decent buy:

From what I know the 6000 series will be released from the lowest end card, then upwards to the higher end ones.

are you sure they're coming out in November?

i put my 2 4870s for sale on CL...
i want to get a 5850 instead.

you think that's an ok upgrade?
