When Windows 7 beta is over

What is going to happen to my computer, and when i reinstall a new operating system (probably windows 7 if its out when they stop the beta) will everything show up just as it was?
 
Once the beta comes to an end, you either have to downgrade to Windows Vista or buy Windows 7.
 
The upgrade path from Vista to Windows 7 should be painless. Everything should show up fine if you do an upgrade, not a fresh install.
 
I just installed Vista over Windows 7 and it worked fine. Everything should still be there as long as you choose "upgrade" versus "new install". I was going to wait until August to see what would happen, but Windows 7 won't be out until next year, so I didn't want to buy an OS for 3 or 4 months of usage until 7 came out. I already had Vista on hand, so I figured I would install it now and get a year's worth of use out of it. I wonder if you couldn't set your system clock back a few months so your OS doesn't know it is August.

I heard it was supposed to be out August this year...??
With the Beta version you can just upgrade but I dont know if it will be the same with the final one.
 
Well, officially, there is no release date. However, the longer we go without a solid date from a MS press release, the more likely it will not be in 09. Read here for more about it.

Hmm...nice to know we might be able to move up to the release candidate. Thank you for the further info.
