Where 2 Connect DVD Wires ?

I bought a DVD DL Burner.

I connected it and all, and it works, but with some problems.

I got the READER Drive on top, and the BURNER on the bottom.
There is one wire that can only go to one, (the little one that connects on the leftside). Which drive do I connect that wire too ??

Then theres the 2 sets of wires that are connected to each other.
The ones on the right that say P8 and P9.
I got the P8 on the reader and the P9 on the burner.

Last is those big connecters, I got the end of it connected to the reader
and the extra piece connected to the burner.

Let me know how I should connect these.
Thanks

This is how I connected it, Please tell me what I did wrong ?

thanks alot

As far as I can tell, they are connected correctly... I see the jumpers are different, but double-check the yare set accordingly(master/slave) Or how about the cable. It's not a cable-select is it?

Do note that the audio cable (blue/black in the picture) isnt really used anymore ... you'll notice if you disconnect it, you'll still be able to play audio from the drive (even if you use onboard sound). Audio data is (and has been for a LONG time now) transmitted via the ATA cable

I believe the audio cable was mainly used when CD drives had the headphone jack on the front. Why they still have them built in, I dont know...

Hey can the MASTER (Top) be anything I want it to be.

My computer came with the reader, and cd burner when I bought it.
I replaced the cd/burner with a dvd/burner.

Now I replaced the dvd/burner with a dvd dl/burner.

So the (top) Master drive I believe, is still the same old one.

Can I just put the regular Dvd burner on(Top) Master
And the New DVD DL Burner on (bottom) Slave ?

Let me know, I'd love this
Thanks

They should be fine, as far as the speakers wires you really dont need them at all, just go to your Device Manager, right click the the drives, go to properties and make sure Enable Digital CD Audio is checked.

Even an external sound card doesn't need the cable, in fact, I removed a cable from mine today because it was causing interference from the CD drive. Now the noise is gone.:)
