Where can I buy just the CD Key? (Legal)

Hi,

I remember there was a website where you could buy just the CD-Key for games, and I need it right now but can't remember it. I tried typing "buy cd key" into google but it brought me warez links.

Could someone help me?
 
But are you sure that the site was legal? It sounds awfully strange to me. How would that site know that you own a legal copy of the game?

I'd suggest that you contact the company that makes the game in question and tell them that you need a CD Key.
 
You can buy cd keys off of ebay, and AFAIK its legal.

Could you please go into a bit more detail for MisterBubbles sake? How can he/we be sure that your purchasing a legal CD key? Is there somthing a person should look out for?
 
technically isnt that what steam does when you buy a game online? i mean u dont really get the key but then u just download the game and it auto does everything

If you're gonna buy a cd key on its own from ebay, then you really do need to be careful. Look for a seller who has a high number of feedbacks and a high percentage of positive feedback. Check over the negative feedback to see what they are. If they say things like "rubbish, cd key was already in use" then contact the buyer and see if the problem was resolved.

Yes. The cd key i bought was for Half life 2, so i could donwload it via steam. I emailed the seller a few times to make sure i could actually download it via steam because i wasn't 100% sure at the time.
 
I would recommend that you contact the game developer itself to get the CD Key. Blizzard does this with their games, and a lot of other ones, as well as most other developers I know of... This eliminates the risk of eBay. :)
