where do the ads of these forums come from?

im sure many of you notice the ads that appear at the top and bottom of the threads, but does anyone else notice they seem to somewhat be targeted toward you? they seem to read my sig i think:) theres always at least one ad for an ATI X800XL, or a Western Digital hard drive, and always one for an ATI card, or for Corsair or something like that, how do they work? i mean i could see them being computer related, because obviously this is a computer forum, but its like they seem to be directed solely at me.
 
They are google ads (in case you missed the Ads by Goooooogle ) They work like a Google search, based on words found on the page it dynamically picks companies from a pool (there is an occurance factor as well I think, so that the companies who pay more are seen more)
