Where should i shop for computer parts?

I was wondering...where should i shop for computer parts and, if it's not just one sight, where is the best deal for computer parts by part (ex. cpu, video card, or RAM)

There are always better and lower priced vendors to choose from. If you run a Google or Yahoo search sites like Shopping.com or Nextag and others will bring you to a page to compare prices seen at different online vendors for one specific item. The more common names among vendors are TigerDirect, MWave, Newegg, Zipzoomfly, Direct.com. and countless others. Zipzoomfly loves to keep their prices above the rest named here. Newegg and MWave seem to be the lower priced. Newegg doesn't seem to have the bundles like seen at other vendors however.

When ordering a replacement board+cpu lately a look over at newegg revealed no cpu/board bundles. But that could well be due to having their individual prices lower then most other vendors looked over.

Whatever you do, do NOT always go for the lowest price. Trust me, it's not always the bargain it seems. Either you'll get socked with higher or slower shipping, or a poor return policy, if any, or even pirated/counterfeit goods.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

4 new computers? or old 1's? new 1's, deal with Newegg, or another good place, and 4 older computers go on Ebay and check there.

Gee? newegg has had some good prices compared to other vendors from what I've seen. They just don't ship the items together in one box apparently. One day Artic Silver 5 arrives. Another day the cpu comes in. And then another day sees board and video card? I thought board and cpu were usually shipped together. But when you save $50-$100 pricewise while paying only a few bucks more for shipping just order one item at a time as a rule. They seem to ship one item at a time. Other vendors ship out in one or two boxes to save on shipping. But they got you on the price tag. Now this is with established well known vendors. Where else would you suggest buying from?

Don't go by me. I've never bought a whole box full of parts, just what I'd needed at the time :( Whenever I go for the lowest price on something, I end up getting burnt. That's all I meant.

well with newegg i already know that the shipping for me is the best when i use ups because there is a distribution center 20 miles away

The only bad thing about Newegg is that the shipping prices kill you. ($5.99 to ship a tube of AS5 that probally weighs 1 oz.) ZipZoomFly is a nice store also and they have free shipping.

Pricegrabber is a great tool to find the lowest price possible, with shipping figured in. Pricewatch is also fairly decent at doing that.

For excellent service, Newegg is probably #1, and they have pretty low prices overall as well. Chiefvalue is right around the same price-wise as Newegg, with Mwave and Zipzoomfly close behind. Zipzoomfly tends to have the cheapest prices on video cards whenever I have looked. This is all with shipping figured in as well. Good luck.

ZipZoomFly has some of the highest prices on items. With their prices they can easily foot the S+H! You start looking over prices between ZipZoomFly and others and you'll have tears there. Let's use an example like a board. Asus A8N SLI sounds good. At ZipZoomFly, http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240422 And look at the difference at newegg, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131524R I'll pay a few dollars for shipping.

That is a very bad example of ZZF's pricing PC Eye. Overall, they are a little more expensive than Newegg, but most things are very close, and in so me hardware areas like video cards, ZZF is cheaper. Example: Newegg has "Video Card A" for $125, but shipping is $6.55. ZZF's same card might be $128, but with free shipping.

That was only one rough example since they manage to keep board prices down there. It's when you go to look at other items while running a search you may find a big surprise at times when seeing who has wnat for less at a reputable vendor that's been around for some time. And then there are times when one is higher then the other for a change. http://www.pricegrabber.com/p__Asus...herboard,__12808886/skd=1/search=Asus+A8N+Sli

I hear that newegg simply goes through several distributers esxplaining why an order for a list of items is sent on different days from different sources. I got told that one by someone who has bought often there. I also had a warning not to have anything to do with ZipZoomFly by a friend who was rooked twice by them. That comes from a reliable source there.

I have bought from both places in the past. They are both good place to buy from. I have never had a problem. I guess it is luck of the draw.

Some time back the ordering was done primarily at TigerDirect. Then MWave came into the forefront for having better deals. On many occasions you would bounce back and forth with one or the other having a better price. I know someone that refuses to order from newegg while going to ZipZoomFly. At the same time MWave has shown itself to stand behind the customer especially lately when a friend received two bad boards in a row. Those were sent back when a 3rd different model was found good. That is the type of vendor to look for regardless of pricing at times. If you get a defective product you can get a fast exchange. At some places....?   !!!
