I got to build a comp for a guy who does building design with cad. rich dude looking to drop some cash. 5000-6000

Not sure about cpu yet...maybe an e6850/q6600/qx6850
Ram will be at least 4 gbs of maybe 1066mhz...would like board to support ddr3
vid cards not sure yet..but pciE for sure. Now will he need 2 cards for auto cad?
1000W psu
Creative X-fi Platinum for sound
good overclocker
30inch LCD (not that it really matters)

So what board should i be looking at?? if i do go with the e6850 then it will have to support the quad core cpu's

thanks guys

Hi,

When you have money, then it's all too simple. Just go to your local hardware store, and buy the most priced component. As for motherboard, be sure that it has the latest socket, that is meant for a Quad core.

no.

actually get a q6600 and a decent mobo.

get 4gb of decently priced ddr800.

get a workstation gpu.

750w pc power is good enough.

antec p180 (stainless oh ya).

500gb hdd.

dvd burner.

vista ultimate.

x-fi is unnecessary.

get a nice big screen :):) like a 30 incher as you said, 24 would be fine too

that budget is ridiculous. the parts will be worth half of their present value in 3 months if you spend $5000

lower your budget to like 3000$

yea iknow its a stupid budget, but at the same time if its what he wants who am i to tell him no.

So no one has a specific mobo i should use

I think ill be going with

q6600
4gb 1066mhz ram (would like it to support ddr3
ultra 8800 vid card
dvd burner
30inch lcd
150gb raptor main hd
750 gb hd for storage
antec 900 case with as many fans as i can get in it
plat sound card. Again i know a 200$ sound card is stupid...but thats what he wants
ocz 1000W psu

now does anyone know what board will fit that?

guys, i think u dont get it, this dude have all the money he needs, so he needs to get at least a 1333MHz mobo and a 1333MHZ CPU, it's the new thing, since he habe all the money he can, he needs to get this thing, it's the higher end CPU and mobo...

as some1 also said, u need a good graphic card for 3d modeling not for gaming

Work station system with 8 gigs of ram on XP 64 OS, You can go up to 48 gigs of ram on this one. The more the better when running XP 64 bit.
Dual xeon quad core processors
quadro pci-e video

This is a pure workstation powerhouse that will run CAD so fast it would make your teeth spin. But it is not really for gaming, you said he wants it for CAD, well here you go. If you need to add a sound card, but add a cheap one since it's only a work computer.

The ram I picked is on the approved list for the motherboard, for this system I would stick with what is approved. And this is server memory. He could always add more of what I picked.

Also the motherboard requires the SSI standard EPS 12V V2.91 standard for power supplys. Not many of them out there. But if he can find a more powerful one then go for it. I was not to sure about the requirements for this system, but it should work.

You obviously didn't look at that entire build I put together for you that included the above mentioned card. I actually went all out for you but I went over the "budget" by about 2000 :P
