i was syncing my iPod touch earlier and all of my music that was either ripped from CD or tape was deleted and only ITunes purchases remained on my device. Where did my songs go?!

That's why you manually manage music instead of letting iTunes sync it.

just got off the phone with apple tech support a second ago. it is fixed. this thread can be deleted now.
You still haven't learned we don't just delete threads....
