New here, just trying to get some other opinions on what i should upgrade in my pc. I use it for hardcore gaming.(crysis and COD4 mostly) So, without farther withholdings, heres my specs.

cpu:AMD athlon 64 x2 5200+ 2.7ghz
mobo:MSI K9A2 platinum
ram: 4gigs ddr2 800mhz(2 gigs munshkin, 2 gigs A data)
gpu:msi RX2600XT 512mb 128bit GDDR4(x2)
(oooorrrrrrr, i also have x1650 512mb 128bit gddr2(x4)
opticals: sony optiarc dvd-rom, LG 20x dvd burner
hdd: Seagate barracuda 320gb sata
monitor: 22" acer
psu: 1k coolmax

what do you think would make my comp run better? my best thought is quad core, but i would wait for AMD's 45nm quads later this year.

i dont see a bottleneck...you could get a raptor 10.000 rpm..run Raid might get a little faster.. im waiting on the 45's also dunno if i want a quad or a dual

like i said. faster harddrive maybe..Am2+ motherboard for your quad. aftermarket cpu cooler if you already dont have one.AND a GPU like a 3870 or the x2 3870

Yeah as most people said, your bottleneck is certainly on your video card. Get something like the 9600GT, 8800GT/GS or the HD3870.

If you can go further get the 8800GTS 512MB (G92). You can find pretty good deals in Newegg.com

:)

Yeah but even so, if you get as mentioned before, a 8800GT or a HD3870 you will have better FPS in games than 2xHD2600XT. ;)
