Which 1.5v video card should I get?

G'day folks,

I recently decided to update some parts on my computer. I have ordered and paid for the motherboard, hard drive, ram and cpu. My dilemna is that the motherboard i ordered only supports 1.5v video cards...

So, my question is: How do I choose what video card to get? What are the 1.5v video cards available that are reasonably good and well priced? And what should I look/look out for when purchasing my new graphics card?

Please help me, I've never had to worry about this sort of thing before, as my old computer was put together for me by my bro, so i have no idea what i have at the moment, all i know is that the card i have now is an asus something or other that was purchased 4 or 5 years ago....

ANY SUGGESTIONS???? ANSWERS???
 
Most AGP4x cards will be 1.5v (if you find one you like but aren't sure about it post it here and someone will know :)) All AGP8x cards must be 1.5v tolerent.
 
don't newer agp cards come with a seperate power cable to hook directly psu since agp can't handle the power of todays cards? If that being true(90% sure it is) doesn't it mean he can get a higher volatage card just as long as he doesn't forget to hook up the card to his psu?

Yes, but that is about wattage not voltage.

Newer cards are lower voltage ;) but if you have the extra power connector don't forget to hook it up :) as a general rule all AGP8x (usually 0.8v but some are 1.5v) cards will work in a 1.5v AGP port (they few that don't work must be tolerant of it and nothing will get fried)
 
Well i went ahead and bought the ABIT R9600 XT yesterday, got it for 265 bucks, which is okay, considering i didn't have to pay any freight or wait for it to arrive from an online/advertised joint....
 
265 AUD is $201 USD. that's $101 more than you should have payed. Now waiting was worth it?

Maybe computer parts are more expensive where you live though, i may be mistaken.

Either way, have you got the card in? Is it working alright in your system?
