Which 8800GTS G92?

Personally I would go with the asus or pny one as they are great companies and produce good stuff. Overclocking is easy as long as you got a decent fan so that shouldnt be an issue.

Why do you think the one is so expensive? The last link I posted.
 
That's just part of their naming system. It doesn't mean anything (to us at least), like how eVGA sometimes calls their cards e-Geforce.
 
The main difference is the warranty and the default clockspeed. XFX and eVGA have a reputation for good service and warranty, so many people prefer them for this reason alone. Pretty much all the cards have a warranty of at least a year or two though. As to clocks you can change it yourself so it doesn't matter so much. The effect of a slightly higher clock is pretty marginal anyway.

I would go with this 8800GTS simply because it it cheap and comes with a free game that's actually good.

Why pay $5 more when you can download Rivatuner in 10seconds and get that extra mhz for free? I def do agree with you when saying xfx and evga. You cant beat their warranties!!
 
Eh, I just thought i'd link it in case this guy is scared to overclock.

I OC'd my 8600 to just over 700mhz and it was still only running at 42 degrees celcius b/c i cranked up the fan a little with riva!
 
I don't know, I OC'd my 8800GT to 660 or something like that. The temps were fine, 3dmark was fine, but then it glitched out and froze in Crysis. I'm wondering if my card just isn't able to do the higher clocks, which means buying a pre oc'd card could be worth it, i don't know.
 
Sometimes, that is true! I know the stock 8600gt xxx wouldn't be able to handle 700mhz b/c its stock clock is only 620mhz and my stock clock is 680mhx b/c i have the zalman edition which is much better. So yes what you are saying is correct. But, the example you gve of the two cards had such a close clock that you could just overclock the slower one a little and it would be just as fast and you shouldnt have any problems.
 
For what it's worth, I wouldn't OC a graphics card... You'd see a much bigger improvment if you overclocked your CPU!
 
So if I overclock my graphic card 60 Mhz (10%), I won't actually see a 10% difference? What sort of difference might I actually see in games?

The prices! :D Really, they are all relatively the same. Different brands do different overclocks and some leave them on stock but they all run at basically the same speed. And the last one you posted has water cooling which is why it's so expensive. ;)

Probably not much of a difference but, it depends on the game. My 8600gt xxx zalman is not much of a card but overclocking it wont give me better performance as it maxes out LFS which is pretty much the only game i play. Im into Racing Sim games incase you didnt know what LFS (Live for Speed) is.
