Which Case should I get?

I do care about the price but if there is a significant advantage one has over the other, i'm willing to pay a good amount of money. I want something that is quiet and does really good cooling. I'm looking at these two cases.

I know from seeing the case in a store running that the lian li is basically silent apart from internal components. I haven't heard the Antec though. I'm guessing it has better cooling due to the amount of fans but i'm sure it's louder. Do you guys think it would have that much better of cooling? The Lian Li has some wicked ventilation.

There has to be a reason that the Lian Li is more than the Antec right?

Antec has a reputation of having quality cases, but so does Lian-Li. So I will go with the experiences I have had. Antec. Although I doubt the 900 series case is all that quiet, I am sure it is very adequate for gaming rigs.

Have you thought of this case, an antec that is very very quiet. I own this one now and love it.

Very quiet, quieter than my wife's computer and I have more stuff more fans and all running at max speed, all she has is 2 120mm fans running on low..

It is rather heavy though, for a case.

I have the p180b as well. It's super quiet, looks nice, and lets me OC (q6600 -> 3ghz) without feeling any heat outside of it.

Not really! The present case here soon to be replaced by the Antec model you are looking at is the AeroCool AeroEngine 2 with a 140mm front intake and 120 rear. I added two more 120s on the clear side cover to give that a boost of air flow. From a nice looking but garbage for no vents and two 80mm fans top and rear to the current case the 48C board temp suddenly dropped to 31C! That case runs for about $80.

The Antec 900 was seen later but no way until someone pointed out a sale for $89.99 at FRYs! Right after that 4th of July sale a few had it as low as $100. Shop around to see if some are seeing a lower price. The Antec lacks a 3 1/2" floppy bay for a note on that. You would need a 5 1/4" drive bay adapter like the one that will be used here to add a floppy drive in. How loud? I'll find that out fast when getting the new build together soon.

$102.45 at http://www.antonline.com/p_NINE-HUNDRED-YA_261030.htm?OVRAW=antec%20nine%20hundred&OVKEY=nine%20hundred&OVMTC=advanced&OVADID=3314820521&OVKWID=33117900021

And better yet! $94.99 seen at http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...e=380345&creativeASIN=B000I5JHB0&linkCode=asm

Tips:

Aluminium is the way to go (no seriously). It makes the case lighter, which helps in so many small ways ;) and aluminium allows better heat dissipation (although practically i dont see it having much effect on this regard)

25cm side case fans are brilliant for cooling, and usually not that loud. finding a case with one can be a bit harder tough

I bought the Thermaltake kandalf (probably too big for your needs) with the side fan, have a look at the armour (silver version) see what u think!, I have heard good things about both cases you mention. I suppose its up to personal preference

The other AeroCool model seen at the link here has the large side fan while the Antec Nine Hundred sees a 200mm top fan along with two 120s instead of a single 140. If the front fan goes here a 120 would then have to used and not so likely to see the plastic turbine wheel spin.

For a look at the 250mm side fan model, http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-extremengine-3t-black.html

For the present case here soon to be replaced, http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-aeroengine-2-black.html

The Antec is still a black enameled steel case. I guess the four large fans have to make up for the difference there. If the case lacks that way then an aluminum model could be a thought there. But with the steel case at the moment the board continues to see a 31C temp while cpu got upto 34C from being on all day and night again.

well thermaltake armor is very cool also !!!! you don't even need to adjust any of the speed because the 25CM fan make sure, that your case is cool!

I have the P180B and it is VERY VERY quiet, especially if you have all the fan's at low. Just make sure you have a quiet CPU/GPU fan, as those will probably be the loudest fans in the entire case.

Despite the drawback of not having a floppy opening you can change from 3 5 1/4" drive bays and 6 HD bays to a combination of 7 5 1/4" and 3 HD bays. That allows for adding water cooling in where you reserve a few 5 1/4"s for the tank/pump. When I get everything in and can put it all together I can let you know precisely how it is for the Antec model.

aluminum is less sturdy than steel, a .8mm rolled stell case will hold up much much better than a .8mm aluminum, and who needs a light DESKTOP case?

oh and antec 900 all the way, when i finnaly order my parts thats the case im getting =)

The one thing here I would have preferred seeing was a silver colored model over another black enameled case. That would go well with the UV lit ide cable and blue led Zalman model cpu cooler going in.

I have an antec 900 and hate it there is no room inside it its almost impossible to mod or liquid cool I'd trade it for that lain li any day
