Which CPU is better?

Hey guys, I am making my Christmas list and I want to upgrade my CPU, but I'm still on a 754 MB and they don't seem to make a lot of compatible CPUs now. The one I have is a "Athlon AMD 64 3200+"

or any of these 4

They are all pretty cheap so I want whichever one is best if they are better than the one I have. Also, some of those come without a fan, so will the fan that came with my original one work on them? Thanks for the help.

your 3200 beats them all. the only one that beats yours, is a 3400 and semprons are terrible, you want an athlon. look for the processor in my signature, the AMD athlon 64 3400@ 2.4GHZ not the sempron... terrible procesors
 
i bought mine for 100$ when the prices were high, ill check brb

EDIT: well on ebay you can expect to pay 70$ and other then that, your processor is the one you'll want to stick with, because upgrading the 754's isnt worth the money any more.

Semprons are alot better than ya think... 1.6GHz rated at 2.4GHz... not bad eh? :rolleyes: And their really cheap...

3000+ is the best. (From your list)
 
I was answering his post and ignoring yours, as you can already see, he's not focused on buying other items :rolleyes:. 4 items. Pick one.
 
I am guessing your current motherboard is limited to 1 gigabyte of random access memory as well. If this is so it would not be a good idea to spend more money on a new processor for the old board. You would likely be best off buying at least a new motherboard and processor and at least 2 gigabytes of Double Data Rate 2 memory.
 
Yeah you by no means do you want to go Sephron, its a low end budget chip. Avoid them unless you use your system for only basis tasks.

Well, my MB can have up to 3gbs of RAM, I currently have 1.5gb in it, and I am going to upgrade that as well. I guess I am just going to stick with the processor I have. I am just trying to get my computer to run a little bit faster without spending the type of money I would need to buy a nice new one. Atleast for another year or so this computer will have decent usable specs. Thanks for the help guys!

There has been some S754 Athlon 64 3700+ around, you would probably have to look hard for it though.

There is one at $125 on ebay.

Good choice. Upgrading your processor on your current motherboard would have done little to increase your system speed. You are near the top with socket 754 processors.

When you upgrade again in the future definitely look at a motherboard that can handle a 2 gigahertz or faster dual core processor.
