Which CPU is faster.

Me and my friend have recently been building a low budget computer he went the intel route and I went the amd route and I'm just wondering which cpu is better.

We've just completed his finally and paired with a XFX 7600GT 1GB RAM a crappy $50 mobo (made sure it had a pci-e slot) and a crappy hard drive he still runs Supreme Commander pretty damn good and thats what we were aiming at. Mine is still being worked on atm. I think I'm actually going to buy the same graphics card he has because for the price it kicks.. Anyways which cpu is better?
 
The Athlon 64 will destroy the Celeron with ease. The reason why it's cheaper is that it's OEM, so no heatsink+fan.
 
The AMD all the way. The celeron really doesn't stand a chance at winning against the athlon 64. Just out of curiosity, what mobo did you buy your friend and what are you planning to buy?
 
The AMD is a lot better than the Celeron I cant believe your friend bought that. Even a Sempron is better than the Celeron for gaming.

Wow I run the game with the system in my sig and it runs only decent, mostly fairly low FPS. I wondering how you can run it (sounds like) better than I do with a worse system?
 
I think u got a some pretty damn good answers there(all for AMD lol but its 100% true that there better thou so what can u say). AMD athlons deffinately kick's celerons ass hands down.... celerons are pure crap. good choice for picking a athlon over a celeron.
