which cpu should i purchase? all i will be doing is checking email going on email internet browsing and a little gaming. im not a hardcore pc gamer and i have read a bunch of threads considering which cpu to buy. AMD and Intel cpu have considerably the same performance for each other. im on a $200 cpu budget and was wondering your opinions which cpu should i get.

(Dual Cored ^_^ 3.0 ghz)

(Looks Good haha)
AMD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103633

Thanks

I would go with the first one since its dual core, it wont be the best for gaming but it will certainly improve multitasking and simple tasks.

well, what'll you be doing with it?
the 930 is most likely a lot more overclockable and better at multitasking... but the 3500+ is definitely better in most games.
if you only wanna play quake 4 and convert videos then get the pentium d lol
personally i prefer the X2 line... better at gaming and still very good at multitasking.

What was the point of that?
probably because you said you'd go with it... but you already did haha
just tell us what you need to do with the computer and we'll help you arrive at a decision, the two are better for diff. apps.
if it was a P4 3ghz vs. the Pentium d 3ghz, Pentium d definitely. athlon 64 is entirely different... its better for gaming mostly.

I would go with the 930 even for gaming, especially since any new game thats coming out is going to be multi-threaded, and there are alot alot of games out now that are multi-threaded.

Even in regular games, with a dual-core you can be running tasks in the background or listening to music while playing a game, and it wont slow it down.

Id just save an extra $50 and get the 940
na Pentium D 930 is good enough for its price,
if he wants to save up some money and get a better cpu by any chance,
he should get amd x2 3800...

i agree with goosy22...

yea yea... w/e lol
if i were overclocking i would get the Pentium D 805... runs a bit warm but easily overclocked 1ghz to around 3.6ghz.

but... if i had time i'd wait for conroe lol...
just because they're going to sell one for super cheap thats probably going to be overclockable to like... 2.8-3ghz i'd bet.

He already told us what he plans to do with it.

He doesn't need anything hardcore. He could literally get by with a Celeron 2.0ghz if all he wants to do is surf and play a few games. He's not a hardcore gamer.

Buying a $200 CPU is a waste of money in this application. Go to Ebay and buy a cheap Celeron D 2.0ghz for $50.

Again, your performance wouldnt as good as say, an 820 since the 805's bus is only 533Mhz stock.
