which cpu will perform better?

which cpu will perform better? given all other pc parts are the same.

2.8ghz celeron 400fsb

or

2.4ghz P4 400fsb

I know that celeron is p4 with 1/4 of L2 cache. I also read that celeron runs at a lower clock speed.

a celeron with same fsb as the p4, do they have the same clock speed? is it determined by the fsb? if it is how much of a difference does the L2 cache make?

what difference does the L2 cache make a difference in general?

The P4 would be better in this instance. A celeron is a poor mans P4, and that snot saying much since P4's are cheap.

You do know that the RAM, motherboard, and video card make a difference to right?

Our family PC had a P4 3.0, which was able to play Halo maxed out, and CSS on medium settings. We then switched it with a Celeron D 2.6 and it wasnt even able to play Halo on lowest settings without lagging up big time.
