New to the forum so please forgive me if this seems simplistic....
Just purchased an Intel D955XBK I955X Socket 775 mobo...and I'm confused as to which compatible processor will be the fastest for my applications.
General Features:
Intel 955X Express chipset
ATX Form Factor
Socket 775
1066/800 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB)
Supports up to 8 GB Dual Channel DDR2 RAM (667/533 MHz DDR2)
Intel ICH7R I/O controller
One (1) UDMA/66/100 IDE controller
One (1) floppy disk controller
Four (4) Serial ATA (3.0 Gbps) ports
Intel High Definition Audio: Full 7.1 surround sound support
Intel PRO 10/100/1000 Network Connection
Intel Matrix Storage Technology supporting RAID 1, 0, 10, 5, and NCQ
Supports Intel EM64AT
Supports ATi CrossFire multi-GPU technology
4-pin Molex 12V power connector on mainboard for auxiliary GPU power
Intel Memory Pipeline Technology
Compatible processors are:
Intel Pentium Extreme Edition 3.20 - 3.73 GHz processors
Intel Pentium D 2.80 - 3.40 GHz processors
Intel Pentium 4 2.80 - 3.80 GHz processors
I'm not a gamer at all...I do a good deal of work at home (using ACAD, etc.) with some rather large files (sometimes 500mb)...and the other usual stuff (check email, listen to online music, etc.)
Could someone help me out and tell me which is best for me without inundating me with too many number crunching statistics (they would go right over my head anyway).
Thanks
