As long as you have a router setup the 5 port switch would suffice. But you got to have a router in the mix.

Hi John,Yeah ive got a Router,so it doesn't matter which one of those above i choose?

Unless you think you need another 8 devices on your network then the 5 port switch will work.

nah :P,im only going to have the Pc & 360 connected to it,its wierd how the 8 port switch is cheaper than the 5 port :P

I'm not sure either, as its a 10/100 mbps. Have you tried changing ports or using different cables? I'm also wondering if this is a managed or unmanaged switch? Are you able to configure it in anyway?

Hi John,

Yes Ive tried different ports,...as for cables its the only Ethernet cables Ive got...there's nothing wrong with them though.

It mentions in the manual something about support for Full Duplex mode (20mbs) & Half duplex mode (10mbs,But doesn't tell you what these mean or how to change its settings,Im assuming it must be set in Half Duplex mode and thats why im only getting under 10mbps but theres no switches or software that come with the Switch...the manual is a bit poor actually as it doesn't tell you anything usefull :/

The only thing i can think of is a bad switch. Maybe possibly try it at a friends house to verify its not cabling or your system?

Im going to return the switch and have my cash back,i just looked on Amazon and come across 15m white Satellite cable extension kit,so i can move my Modem + router to where my desk is and connect the 360 + Xbox straight into the router,Wish i would have seen this extension kit before....ooh well please excuse my dumb moment lol.

thanks for your help John :)
