Which file for Desktop?

I'm backing up the data on my hard drive and also want to regularly back up my desktop shortcuts and files. I am using Windows 7. Which file do I back up?

The Desktop folder in your user folder.

C:\Users\[user name]\Desktop

However, saving your shortcuts is pretty useless.

Why do you say I shouldn't save the shortcuts?

Cause they won't do you any good for a backup. If you restore your shortcuts after you reload the computer, they will have no use because they won't point anywhere cause the programs won't be installed.
