Which Firewall should I use?

I have been using Zonealarm Internet Security Suite for about 5 years, and althought I have never had a problem with malware ever, I would like to know some other options now that I have to renew my license ($40). I must say that I also use Deep Freeze Standard (for the last 2 years). I guess this combination is the key to avoid issues with any type of security risks.

Now, by reading reviews, I have learn ZA is not longer the best, so I want to explore other secutity software, but my question is which software will have the same feature I like in ZA: Application Control, where I can control which application have access to the net. I don't want programs to be calling home without my knowledge & authorization.

I have checked ZA free edition, but obviously its app control feauture has not the same versatility as their paid version.

Will Kaspersky, Bitdefender, or any other will have this "application control" feature too?

I never had a malware problem either, and use the Windows Firewall.

If you use a Router, or your Broadband modem has a built in router, then that offers more protection from the outside then a software firewall.

It is a waste of money to pay for a software firewall.

Comodo Internet Security, the firewall and HIPS are quite well, and It is free.

You should never need anything more than Windows Firewall.
