Which free browser is best?

Opera 8.5 which is now free is the best, on Mac though Safari is the best.

Opera 8.50. I've tried every other one that I have heard of and prefer Opera by far.

firefox by far. It's more secure on the code level, not just because virus developers aren't targeting it. It's not integrated into the OS, so even if it does become comprimised, the virus will have limited access to system files. Microsoft made IE to handle way too much stuff. Firefox is a web browser. Streamlined and efficient with the benifit of being open source
