Can someone please help me, i think i need to upgrade my graphics card (tell me if i dont) and need help deciding which one for my set up...

I was thinking about the overclocked (as im not skilled enough to do it myself) powercooler 7850 being 1000mhz (i only look at specs etc cause thats all i can see if u know what i mean/dont know much just like to game and doesnt o'cing risk frying your system?) but ive heard of heating problems with it etc aswell, i dont want to spend a fortune (around $300 or so) just something that will keep me happy on a 1900x1020 display

I don't use crossfire with my cards cause i feel it doesnt help at all and have always regretted the second card, have heard crossfire is better with newer cards, is that right? If its REALLY worth it i could stretch the budget for a 7870 so...

Thanks dudes!!

A 7850 should be fine for 1080 gaming. Can you tell us the rest of you setup? There might be a bottleneck somewhere else in your system.

I think the 7850 would be fine for now. It's still a great card :). You can always upgrade in the future if you really feel the need.

Sorry didnt give details of my set up...

phenom II X6 3.2 ghz
Asus Crosshair IV Formula
16gb ram 1333
1025 watt ermax
EAH5750 Formula Graphics card x2

at the end of the day once you've got everything good enough like i do atm (well i think i do) all you do is upgade your graphics... am i right or is this cpu not going to be good enough soon?

Well you buy all your parts including your Graphics Card.

That CPU is OK. As long as gaming is the main thing your doing it should be OK.

yeah gaming is all i do, should i get rid of this crossfire and go with a single card, the powercooler 7850 goes 1000mhz should i get it or stay where i am for awhile, i wanna play new games like gran theft, metal gear solid, resident evil 6, f1 2012, tombraider with it lookin good and playing good!

If I were you I'd just go with the one card, it will be enough :).

78xx cards have terrible drivers at the moment, i'd definitely wait for their next updates before picking one up(they do show a lot of promise as a performer though). Otherwise a different card may be a better choice if it's an immediate need.

I heard other things...
the 6xxx series were doing bad, but the 7xxx series?
I read some time ago at the reviews of an hd7870. They are all saying that the drivers are doing great atm.
