which graphics card is better?

nvidia geforce 315 or nvidia geforce 405?
edit: forgot to put that the 315 has 512 dedicated memory and the 405 has 1gb of dedicated memory if that makes a difference.

Need more information.. Like:
# of processor cores
Direct X Version
Open GL Version
Clock speeds

and so forth. The higher RAM will help out with higher resoultions.
 
that stuff you asked for isn't necessary, over the gens the core numbers are less importent as new core arches result in faster cores, and the other 2 are more preferencial, dx9 is still one of the most used ones out, but this question seems to be more of a where are you getting and how much are they asking time.

Right, but I would have the generation changes in mind while giving advice.

The Direct X version matters somewhat, because gaming producers are starting to make games without support of DX9. But, if someone purchases a lower end card, then chances are they will not be using it for the latest and greatest programs and video games.

And, like you said, it also depends on the pricing and where it is being bought from.
 
actually, since almost every game worth playing is also on a console, and consoles are still on dx9, they will be making dx9 games for a good long while longer, and even after the next gen consoles are out (supposedly one will be at the next e3, not out but at) they will still be making the games for the others too for a little while.
 
well neither of these will do any gaming over 1024x768 with low as crap settings, they both suck, not sure why 1 even has the 1gb ram, it can't even get use out of that, maybe in modeling i gues but otherwise nope, really you should look at building a computer, it's cheaper and will be faster along with higher quality parts too and better support if something fails.

ok im only gonna be playing games like test drive unlimited 2, sims 3, minecraft and even intel hd graphics can run the last 2 so are they good enough for that? and if they are which is better?
 
Hi, pal i had a look for some benchmarks and came up blank for both gpu's is it posisble to sell either of the gpu's you choose and add money on top? I ask this as for little more than £40-50 in the used market you could get a much superior gpu,

As johnny has said the gpu's you have asked about are in no way shape or form good for gaming, they may (may) pull off some light gaming, runescape etc but i doubt test drive unlmtd.

if you can figure out a posisble budget for an aftermarket gpu we can point you in the right direction.

Also, rather than pick the comp on the gpu it may be wiser to pick the computer based on the specs other than the gpu's as they are are very easy come easy go sort of thing.
