Which hard drive should i go for?

I need to replace my notebook hard drive (Toshiba MK-6021GAS, 60Gb 4200rpm) which has failed and does not function anymore. Brought my Gericom notebook 3.06ghz ,P4, 60GB hard drive, 512MB Ram more than a year ago and dam hard drive didnt even last long enough.

Anyways I am thinking of buying a hard drive 60GB With speed of 7200rpm. Theres 2 that come to mind but dont know each one to go for:

I'd get either one. We use Hitachi and Seagate and sometimes Western Digital. I think the Toshiba's arent that fast, even though they advertise a 16mb cache, support isnt that great either. Hitachi's are very affordable, and I find the WD's run pretty cool. As for getting a 7200rpm drive, I wouldn't go for that unless you're working with a lot of large files... Like Photoshop or heavy calculations. Sucks up more power, gets a little warmer, and costs much more. For the same price, you can probably get a 100gb 5400rpm.
 
hmmmmm I'm a bit worried about the drive dying out like the toshiba one. So thats why I am thinking of buying a 7200rpm one being expensive I assumed it wil ensure realiabilty and not fail.

But my notebook used to get pretty hot with the old toshiba HD so I guess it wouldnt be a gud idea to go for something that makes it any hotter.

The price of a product doesn't mean it's more reliable. If that was true, we'd all be driving BMW's and Mercedes (2 of the most unreliable cars according to Consumer Reports). We use Hitachi's very often on our customs-- it's the consumer's that choose them through our configuration page. They're more affordable than the Seagates, and their support is great. Haven't had one bad one yet. Also, don't be afraid, it should come with a 3 year warranty. If you want a cooler running drive, you can try with the Western Digital.
 
The top one's a bit slower, but also a bit more quiet. Both should be good drives, though. I'm not exactly sure, but I beleive I have a model similar to one of those in my laptop and it's very nice. I hear good things about them too.

If you want reliability, get slower drives(as in RPMs) You'll have slightly slower access times, but better battery life and probably longer HD life.
