Which hard drive

I am looking to buy a hard drive but before I do I was wondering what the difference is between these two Western Digital hard drives. They have different model numbers I am guessing that just has to do with the production date.

The RE3 drives are raid specific. You actually want either a caviar blue or black drive so your second link would actually work for you.

You want a WD Black drive. I had a blue and it crapped out on me in a few months. Never had a drive do that and I see a lot of other people recommend Black drives. http://www.codespromedia.com/site/c...on_chart__western_digital_codes_pro_media.pdf

While WD Black drives are a higher end drive, there's no reason, IMO, to shy away from the Blues. I have owned several of each and have had no issues.

However, anecdotal statements of a drive's reliability should be taken with a grain of salt. My statement that I haven't had problems and Agent Smith's statement that he has had problems are statistically meaningless.
