Which hp is better?

Just wondering which laptop is the better bang for the buck. I also had a question...the red one is centrino and the other one isn't. But the other one has 1000mhz while the red one is 800 mhz processor. I thought centrino was better? And also the battery on the red one is the 12 cell. I'm guessing the silver one is the 6 cell because it is lighter?

The second one has more ram, but it also has a graphics card I've never heard of. An nvidia 9200. If it is what I think it is, the 8400 will be better, or the first one.

centrino isnt a type of chip, thats just what intel want you to believe .its a marketing term for an intel motherboard + core2 + intel wireless

and your wrong, the red one, its not 800mhz, its 2.1GHz
the other silver one is 2.0ghz

sorry I was talking about the System Bus
1066MHz

What will you be using this computer for?

Well I picked those 2 because they are in my price range. And I also plan to game. I want to be able to run Starcraft 2 and Warhammer smoothly when they come out. I will be going away for college soon. And also wondering maybe I should wait till mid August and see if there will be better deals going on. I like the red one because of the better battery life (assuming the silver one is only a 6 cell lith) but I like how the silver one has the better graphics card...

Well the red one has a better graphics card. Just because it has a bigger number doesn't make it better. The silver has a 9200 which would be an overclocked 8200, and the 8400 is better than the 8200 if it had existed.

I don't know what the requirements are for running those games however for a college student I would choose the second one. One of the major reasons is because of the hard drive. Even though it is 5400 RPM as opposed to 7200 RPM you get 70GB of more space more which I think is good when you are a college student.

Another reason is because it has 4GB of ram as opposed to 3GB of ram and is upgradeable to 8GB of ram which I think is something good to have as technology changes and programs get more demanding. However 4GB of ram right now is sufficient for pretty much anything.

Hope this helps

Thank you all for your help. But what about the processor? Which one is better? One has centrino but one also has a higher system bus.

dont you listen to what i say, centrino isnt a processor. it means nothing. its just a marketing term intel use when its an intel cpu + intel motherboard + intel wifi

the one with the 200mhz faster FSB is however 100mhz slower in clock speed, so in practice, you wont notice much difference.

then why do the laptops from the same company advertise one with Centrino and the other one none? There must be a difference is my thinking but if you're saying it doesn't matter then I guess.

because others dont meet the requirements for it, e.g they use a different wireless card. believe me , its a scam. I sell this sort of stuff at my work.
