2 years ago, I bought a Dell 5100 laptop for around $1200 right before I started college. I'm not sure why, but since I got a virus a year ago (I did pay a guy to fix it), its been going pretty slow, I cant open up more than 2 or 3 internet browsers at a time, my mouse keeps messing up, and my fan is running really hard. So I'm at the point where I think I'm going to just sell it (its probably something really easy to fix but im sick of it) and buy a new one. I'm looking at two HP Laptops, a zd600 and a zd8000.
ZD6000
15.4" Brightview Widescreen (upgrade)
AMD Athlong 64 3200 2.0 GHz (upgrade)
128 mb w/ hypermemory graphic card (upgrade)
256mb (1 x 256 mb)
80 GB 4200 Hard drive (upgraded)
DVD RW/CD RW (upgrade)
8 cell battery
Wireless 54 g
$1005 (minus a $50 rebate), however I need to upgrade the memory more from a 256, so I'm assuming another $100-$150 for the memory
ZD 8000
17" Brightview (upgrade)
Intel Pentium 4 520 w/ hypertechnology, 2.8 GHz (upgrade)
128 mb ATI Mobility Radeon graphic card
512 mb (2 x 256)
80 GB hard drive (upgrade)
DVD RW/CD RW (upgrade)
12 cell battery
Wireless 54 g
$1275 (minus a $50 rebate)
So pretty much, the 8000 has a bigger screen, a better processor (i think?), more memory, and a better battery. Is this worth the price or should I stick with the cheaper one?
