Thanks

1st, I have an amd 3700+ san diego, so a little newer then yours, but its stock speed is a 2.2 GHz, and my parents have a p4 ht 3.0 GHz, the 630 to be exact. They have 1.5 GB of ddr2 and I have 1 to 2 GB of ddr (pc 32000 don't know what there is), my amount depends on how my comp is acting. My comp is faster though, to say the least. He does have a substantially better video card, but its not a huge difference. AMD would probably make up for it in the games, but his comp will be better for multitasking, but tell him to figure out his ram so it will run dual channel. 2.5 GB is just a funky number and his motherboard isn't gonna like it.

I think yours is just barely better than his, all you need is a new mobo and vid card and you would have him beat.

Will still probably get beat when it comes to multi tasking, that is were intel really shines, especially with and HT cpu and when you are talking about single core cpus. But gaming, its gonna be pretty close because of the video card.

Actually, last time i checked, there isnt a 3700+ Clawhammer, unless its socket 754..
uhm... which it is...

so you have a clawhammer 3700+ whereas the 3700+ San Deigo is 939...

and its 1MG of L2 ;)

id take his system, soly because you have a S754, and only a 6800 GT, id take his system cause it has more RAM, more storage, and a 7800GT

Well, that extra stick of RAM he has might not actually get him all that much more performance, 2GB is where most systems seem to perform the best. (Testing out a few different rigs with this difference...) As for the obvious difference in graphics card, yes, and with the way the compys are, I would take his, but want to immediately upgrade the PSU! Please, for his sake have him get a little better PSU, if he keeps the current system it'll be fine, but if he gets another HD and DVD drive, he'll be pushing that thing pretty hard. Your PSU is great, I think I have the same model, and the exact same case, too... :)

Ya honestly I like your system better except for the video card and the fact that your cpu and socket type are pretty outdated already. But both of them are pretty decent comps, they are both gonna have areas with they will outperform the other.

I like his because his video card is better, his ram setup is retarded, needs to take out that 512,assuming his board supports dual channel.Your board is old, socket 754 is crap and plus,if i read correctly, your card is agp so is your mobo,i don't like agp.

I would go with yours, but he does have a better video card.

And 2.5GB's is the same as 2,560MB of memory.
