which is better

AMD athalon 64x2 dual-core 4000+

or

Pentium dual-core E2 180 (1MB L2 Cache,2.00GHz,800 fsb)

which is faster. i am looking for the best gaming CPU FROM THESE OPTIONS!!!
 
Pentium E-series are supposedly excellent over-clockers, so if your MoBo supports OC, I'd go with one of them.

As far as everyday use, I'd still pick the Pentium, but I'm an Intel fan-boy, so keep that in mind:)
 
Just to give you an idea on how fast the E2180 is.

Using SuperPI, my old X2 3800+ on stock gave me 47 seconds. E2160 on stock gave me 33 seconds. ;)
 
the mobo is just from the dell computer. (yes they are dell options :) im trying to see what i can do from dell to make a mild gaming computer. mild :)
so yeah, im not sure that the mobo is.

the finished product will have the 8600 gt xxx card and 2gb corsair ram @800mhz.
well will see what it does.
