Do you only have a choice of those two? The one you really want is the 2500K. Unlocked multi, HD3000 graphics and no price hike for a useless feature (hyperthreading)

most likely a 2500k is better, but what are you planning to do with this computer, and where are you getting it from?

I am actually trying to build my own computer to be really fast and I'm looking for everything I need but the main thing is the processor. And don't know hardly anything about computers except how to operate them so I am seeking advice on what I need.

either way you want a k, the k makes it much easier to overclock.

but for the 2 things you said and then just normal browsing and stuff i'd say 2500k, but really even a amd quad core would do fine for this kind of stuff, not very intense as far as i know.

If you are aiming for the fastest build possible (within a reasonable price), you should go with the 2600k. It's basically a 2500k with hyperthreading, which is a technology that allows certain highly-threaded programs to run faster. The 2500k is a better deal IMO, and is still extremely fast. If I were you, I would not get a non-"k" CPU, since the "k" CPUs will allow you to overclock your CPU in the future if you ever choose to. Overclocking is essentiially the raising of a CPU's speed to higher-than-stock levels in order to acheive better performance.

Hope I could help clear things up. ;)

I agree. If you don't care about overclocking I would look at the Core i5 2500. $30 less in price and it has great processing power.
