Right now I am running with a decent with setup my isp is currently upgrading my internet speed. My computer is about 60ft from the router I am not getting close to as fast as I could be getting. I am just wondering if I switched to powerline adapters would they be over all faster than a wifi setup??

a direct cable hook up will be faster.
The adapter your talking about i do not know.
had to read again.

Its not hard wired like ya think. The Internet is superimposed (the intelligence) on top of at least in the states the line volt plugged in the wall. The intelligence is carried on the 60 cycle (carrier). Eliminates wiring if needed. Can be plugged into any room for access.
Im just trying to say it from a electronic stand point.

Powerline adapters aren't bad. They do tend to get a bad rep though. I know we frequently had them returned at the shop I worked at because people didn't understand how they worked. However, they can work well if you need to extend the network but might have issues with wireless signal strength.

On the same token, Powerline adapters do tend to be slower than most wireless networks. I've not tested any of them recently but I know some original ones were slower than Wireless G. New ones are rated much higher, but as with most any network, your enviroment could play a huge factor in those speeds.

If you already have the wireless router, stick with wifi. In the end, it'll probably be the easiest to implement . Besides, you still will need a router. you'd just be looking at about $30 for a good wireless card vs about $80 for a good powerline set.

wireless may be preperable for some people using laptops but i prefer to use wired ethernet connections becuase it is much more reliable and i use advanced/buisness grade networking devices like cisco series and watchguard firewalls and stuff which is not really compaitable with wireless because wifi is scarecly used in advanced network maps
