core 2 duo 1.6 ghz

Most likely the C2D, but what is the 'dual core' processor? That's rather unspecific, as there are many lines of dual core processors, including the C2Ds.

EDIT: It the top one is in an Acer 5710, then it should be a Core 2 as well, unless they put Pentium D's in some of them.

The "dual-core" is probably the Intel Dual-Core, or Intel Pentium Dual-Core.

In either case, I would rather go with the Core 2 Duo.

Well, I did a quick search of the laptop he mentioned for the dual core, and the ones I found had C2Ds in them, so I think that both are C2Ds, in which case the one with the higher clock speed would be the better.

I agree with PohTayToez, assuming they are both C2Ds, the 2.0 should be faster :). However, can you wait until late August? According to Intel, Core 2 Duo laptops with the Merom chips are supposed to be coming out in late August. the Merom C2D chips are supposed to run 20 percent faster  than the "older" Core Duo laptops currently out. Since they run with less watt usage, the are not supposed to get as hot as todays laptops. :D

Good luck
