Which is faster?

I'm wondering if the new macbook pro with the 2.16 GHZ core duo would be faster then my current cpu which is AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+. Someone that is a huge mac fan said it'd blow my cpu out of the water and I guess I just find that difficult to believe, then again, I could be wrong. Thanks.

Are we comparing processors alone, or the entire computer vs. his Mac? Because this is REALLY an Intel vs. AMD topic if you're just comparing processors. However, if you mean the entire system...it's Mac vs. PC. Tough cookie.

EDIT: have a look here. http://www.gamepc.com/labs/print_content.asp?id=coreduo&cookie_test=1
it appears that the Duo Core is pretty evenly matches...hard to tell who is better here. depends on other hardware.

for some things yes (probably just superPi haha) and some things no.
generally the core duo is better (if they both have the same frequency) because it has more cache, but the 4400+ has plenty of cache, and a slightly higher frequency, so i'd go with the 4400+...
basically you won't see any real performance differences.

The X2 would be better overall, and especially at gaming. But the Core Duo us also very nice, however it's not as good as the 4400+ in most apps/games.

yea plus a core duo normally wouldn't be paired with a 7800gt lol

ill stray away from AMD if the performance/ price is better lol
