I have a computer that I built that has an AMD FX-57(2.18ghz) processor in it... Since I am in college the computer that I built is simply to big.. I am looking at purchasing a 17" MacBook Pro with a Intel Core Duo (2.4ghz) I am wondering which is a faster processor?? Thanks!!

No!!! AMD rules...amd is much better for gaming that core dual. Core dual have 2 dual core procesor and the game cant regonize wich core to chose!!!

Sorry for my bad english

AMD was better than Intel when Intel had pentium 4

But currently Intel Core 2 Duo are best processors for gaming

And many games nowadays can utilize two cores

my major in school is engineering and i needed a massive computer to run the 3d modeling packages we use at our school...i dont do much gaming...i just dont want my laptop to be considerably slower than my desktop.

AMD is sucking presently... Haha...Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme are the best out there. And AMD has dual core chips, too. Athlon X2, pay a little more attention to the market. It doesn't matter between CPU manufacturers when it comes to cores, some games recognize one core, newer games recognize both and even quad cores. AMD is not better for gaming at this time... And how do you 'game' on a Mac(besides the sucky games)? If anything it's graphical design....

nooo..amd is better for gaming!!! In my country friend have 5600+ amd and other friend have core duo 2.66. We have tested and better gaming goes with amd

sorry for the confusion...my question is NOT which is better for gaming..im asking which one is an overall faster processer..(example) to run engineering programs.

Hmmm, maybe because the AMD system has a better video card and other hardware????

The Core 2 series is currently the best in every area, especially gaming. AMD was ahead when Intel's P4's were their top end CPU, but not anymore.

The Core 2 Duo is the best processor.

Haha...so you think, eh? Maybe you should run some SuperPI or CPUMark to test those computers' CPU and not globally test the computer....
