Which is the better CPU?

I'm looking at buying a new gaming computer from iBuyPower, which is by far the cheapest built computers I've seen online, anyways, I can't decide on whether or not I should get a Intel Pentium 4 processor, or an AMD 64. Does anyone know which would be suited better for gaming? Oh and the Intel P4 is a 3.2 and the AMD is the 3500+, both with HT technology. Thanks.

I would go with AMD, but thats just me, Used only AMD since 1999, Oh and AMD does not have Hyper Threading technology

AMD is hands down better for gaming, and amds do have a sort of hyper threading its just called hyper transport. but yea AMD's will alwyas be better for gaming.

Hyperthreading is an intel feature. It involves the creation of an additional logical core that can be used to process application threads seemingly independent of the other core. It helps when using multiple applications (and intense ones at that)
HyperTransport is a Bus used by amd processors (post k8 ;)) kind of like intels FSB, but not really the same.

Anyway HyperTransport and Hyperthreading are totally different things
HyperTransport is used for amd chips (again post k8)
Hyperthreading is a feature solely of intel (on the chips that support it)

wouldent the 3500+ whoop the crap out of the 3.2 in alot of crap besides gaming? i know intel's multi better then AMD, but the 3500+ isnt a bad processor

intel and amd went in totally different directions. intel focuses and speed, but longer pipelines. and AMD went lower speed, but to make up for it, shorter pipelines. "better for gaming incase something crashes or whatever".

go amd!

pipeline length is not the main reason that amd out perform intel when gaming. Think onboard memory controller
