Which is the better performing card?

The 8800gt is the superior card, but the HD 3870 is close behind in performance and is cheaper.

Ok so how much better is the 8800GT is it worth spending more money on? Are both of those cards better then the 8800GTS 320MB which is what I have. Would it be better just to stick with my card and upgrade later?

It's individual. The way prices have been, I think the GT is worth it, being that it's about 15% better and priced just slightly more than the 3870. If the 3870 can actually hit it's MSRP or lower, consistently, it be a much harder choice.

Both are better than your current card, but you might consider keeping it alittle longer, for a price drop, or the 9 series, etc.. The performance increase you'd get at this point, wouldn't be worth the $250 price tag, in my opinion.

Here's some benchies, so you can see what you'd be getting,

8800gt
3870

Thanks. So it would be worth maybe $50 like if I could sell my current card for about $200. I may just go with the 3870 cause I havent bought a ATI card in a long time.

Yeah, that would work. ;)

I'm deciding on which to go with as well. Haven't made up my mind yet...

Yeah both are good cards its a hard decision but price may come into play with me here so I may end up getting the 3870.

Now hopefully I can sell my card for $200.

After much research and decision making, i picked the 3870 and couldn't be more happy.

Both are great cards, IF Best Buy ever gets them back in stock the 3870 is on sale for $193 .. thats a deal  i paid $60 more :P
