Which is the most secure browser?

IE 6 was a disaster for Microsoft being full of security holes! That prompted many to go with FireFox as a rule. Apple's Safari 3.1 as well as Opera, Netscape, and others became popular due to the IE 6 flop. Safari is literally the fastest browser there to note seeing pages load like lightning.

IE 7 saw the security holes plugged up as well as introducing an antiphising filter in the newer version of IE. Presently I've been waiting for the full not beta version of IE 8 to compare that to 7 and other browsers like FireFox 3.0 and Safari 3.1 used here.

I would say Firefox.

Stand Alone its better but what makes it even safer is the community. A lot of add-ons to both help you do normal stuff + keep you safe.

Example is Adblock Plus...prevents 98% of all the ads on the net...want to block banners etc to save bandwidth or just want to load pages faster? Can block the banner OR block the ad "frame" to prevent anymore in the area of the image frame you blocked.

You don't! A distro release may see one version of FireFox included along with it. Otherwise it's a separate item you would download for use when running Limux. Being open source they just happen to make it available for Windows users as well.

For seeing pages load fast Safari outdoes FF there by a long shot and is a secure browser since you won't see the typical active x controls like IE that tend to get exploited. Most bugs are designed to get past IE since Windows is still the most widespread OS in use. Bugs bounce off Safari as well as FF while some newer ones take FF into account.
