Kubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron)
Kubuntu 8.04 (KDE 4 Remix).

Kubuntu 8.04 features the rock solid KDE 3 and is supported for 18 months (until October 2009). Kubuntu 8.04 (KDE 4 Remix) comes with the cutting edge KDE 4 Desktop.

so which one should i get? does "rock solid" mean its more stable or something?

Basicly the KDE4 one is more of a beta then a full release, but it will work just fine. Rock solid just means it is really stable.

ok... so what about looks wise... would the kde 4 look much nicer?
basically my download speed is around 30kb/s so i really dont want to spend ages downloading one and then realising the other would be better for me

Heron = completely tested and found to work excellent; has stable, proven software; easier to diagnose/fix problems since it has a larger user base
Remix = Test softwares *based* off stable, proven software (for the most part it works, but bugs of all sizes are still being identified and fixed); next-gen of KDE distros

As far as looking nicer, that's all relevant to the person using it. There will be a slightly different look to it and a bit more eye candy, but otherwise, nothing really special. Either will provide you with enjoyment, I'm betting. If you're not too familiar with Linux, I'd stick with Heron. If you break Remix, you get to keep all the pieces:)

im 3/4 of the way through downloading heron now... we'll see how it goes.
whenever i start messing around with linux i always loose vista in the end :D
haha i dont know why.

i have some other distro installed right now... if i boot into livecd and choose the same partitions to format as are being used by the other distro.... will it erase and and install the new one fine?
