I know building one would be cheaper but my parents don't want to do that because they want to pay on a payment plan. I just want to know which one would be better i'm going to use it for college next year and I want to just get on the internet and such and play a few games one. Also I will upgrade the RAM to the maximum capicity. And another question I have is if I have a radeon 9800 pro in my desktop now can I take that out and put it in one of those? Or do I have to get something special. Thanks.

The links dont work. ehh mind posting the specs? For the graphics card you have to see what slot it is and what slot the mobo is, like AGP 8x or PCI-E 16x

I just fixed the links. Sorry about that

I would go for the second one. The centrino is a really good proccessor, and with it maxed out at 2gigs, that thing will fly.

Yeah that is what I was thinking. But what worried me was the 1.73 GHz compared to the 2.4 GHz of the Gateway. Do you think the RAM will make up for that? Also is there anyway to change the video card that or am I stuck with that one that is in it.

I acutally just saw this one also.

Most people dont change video cards in laptops due to the fact you can't. And I dont think the intel accelerator 900 is even a card, so there may not even be a space for a card. And about the speeds of the cpu's the centrino has lower clock speeds, thus the power saving. I really dont think you are going to see any kind of negative performance compared to the 2.4....if there is though, the ram will speed up that machine incredibly.
