I would have to say the toshiba as it has a better processor and it has a dvd drive included as to where the asus doesn't. Not sure if that is a deal breaker for you or not.

thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure which processor would be better to be honest. I'm under the impression the i3 is a powerful i3, whereas the 15 is a lower end i5.

dvd drive isn't a must but would be nice... from what i read, the biggest complaint on the Toshiba is the speakers, which would bother me if they are really that bad.
