which motherboard for my setup?

Either,

Really doesnt matter...
I can tell you that the ASUS board is really good, it is the one I use. As for the other, I've heard many people on this forum speak its praises. Either, seems to have all the features you wanted, and more; should be a great choice..

Sorry, if you were looking for a definate choice.
Then i say. ASUS board.

1) I have it, i can vouch for the quality
2) Has tons of features (including 7.1 audio)
3) Less expensive than other

if it does have more overclocking features then i will get that i want to overclock my 3800 + X2, so i guess i will go with the DFI board, they seem to be almost the same right, i wouldnt be losing anything by going with the DFI over the ASUS right?

after reading many reviews on websites such as tomshardware and anandtech i have decided to change my decision to the ASUS board. it seems to be more reliable then the DFI. the DFI was said to be picky about hardware. and the ASUS board was overclockable as well.

I am thinking about building my own computer now, and I was also looking into these two motherboards and I had a question as well. The asus uses a heat pipe to cool the chipset while the DFI uses a fan, and with the video cards i am looking at buying (2 7800gtx) they would most likely cover up the chipset fan on the DFI and I was wondering if that would make any diffrence.

i read alot of reviews from users of that board and they said it was a disadvantage having the fan right behind the pci cards, also since your going to be using SLi the asus board is very nice because it switches to SLi automatically and the 2 slots are farther apart then they are on other boards. this makes it a little more convenient. also the heatpipe has been proven to work well. so dont worry about it not being a fan.

If your goona overclock go with DFI i have one and they are the best boards around for that. If your not going to overclock still go with DFI cause they are the best boards around lol.

u sound like a fanboy thats been influenced by what others say, not your own thoughts.

Neither. SLI is dumb. Have a lookie http://www.computerforum.com/showpost.php?p=214264&postcount=28. If you're insistent on them the my choice would goto the DFI board because the arrangement of the RAM DIMMs favors better cooling :)

Having used both, i can say the ASUS board wont OC anywhere near the same as the DFI board. As for finicky hardware requirements, thats the cost of getting high end parts :)

Absolutely :)

Encompassing an entire company is a bit broad: the A8N32SLI and A8RMVP are better overclockers IMO

Is it? You asked for reasons in your first post, not opinions :)
