Which of the 2 "older" GPUs is better?

OK, so I have an 8600gt sitting in my closet and I offered to give it to my brother, he has an ATI x700. He said he didn't wan't it cause it is only a LITTLE better and it wasn't really worth it. I was thinking the 8600 was A LOT better, then again i'm not an expert.

Which one of us is correct?
 
ummm yeah the 8600 is a lot better than the x700. the x700 was meant to be about the same as a 6600 which are both pci cards. the x700 is total junk compared to the 8600
 
Thats what I thought! but he is older and likes to think he is always right.

and i didn't plan on getting rid of either of them....but it wouldn't hurt to ditch the ATI card
 
Actually, maybe he is wrong and it's not an x700, cause it uses a PCIe x 16 slot, but i do know that it's definately not from any of the HD series....oh well. thanks for the info
